Question:
My partner & I live in Washington. & are buying her Dads house in Iowa. She will not be there for closing, do we need 2 Power of Attorneys..Washington State and Iowa State? We will not be living there until we retire. (Seattle, WA)
Answer:
If escrow has been set up, I would recommend calling the closing agent to find out what they need. I would assume that a WA POA (Power of Attorney) would be just fine, but it is best (in my opinion) to find out exactly what the escrow company would want in this situation. They may have a preferred form for her to use. Another option is to see if they can FedEx closing documents for signature and return. Good luck.
